An Overview of the Sri Lankan Conflict

The recent events in Sri Lanka related to the conflict there warranted a search for a reasonably objective overview of the conflict for the uninitiated. Having researched the topic, I found the best to be a BBC Four documentary titled “Hot Spots – Sri Lanka”. Fortunately, the entire documentary was posted on Youtube and is linked to below.
To provide context to the uninitiated, this documentary covers the conflict right up to the point before the last ceasefire between the Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE broke down. However, while it places the conflict in historical perspective, it does not cover the final two years where the government pursued an exclusively military strategy.
